Is wheezing alone an early sign of a RI?

My male wheezes from time to time, I've heard it three times and it only seems to happen when he's stressed. He shows no other signs and the wheeze isn't choppy, sort of like a sigh. Is this something I can write off ?

I wouldn't worry just yet if it was just one wheeze and no more.

Is the snake a cinamon or black pastel (or combo with either)?

I suppose so, he's never hissed so it's entirely possible that's just how he hisses.

It's happened twice total, only when he's stressed. Once after a long handling session while I was cleaning, and the other time was when he was introduced to the females tub. He has no mucus, doesn't breath choppy, no parting of the mouth or raising his head either. He hasn't eaten in 10 days either.

Snakes often make noises - especially when they are being held or messed with - that emanate from the glottis and the nares. These are usually the expulsion of breath due to stress and they can sound like a wheeze.

Occasional situational whistling/crackling/static from the glottis is normal, and is a by-product of the shape of the glottis X the rush of air forced through it. It is completely normal and is nothing to worry about - especially if he is doing it when you are screwing with him.

This is why I love reading your posts. I feel like I'm reading a scientific journal article right up until the point that you need to get your point across, e.g., "when you are screwing with him". It's quite effective.
