    Hoppers or Rat Pups?

As a brand new Mama to a 4 month old (127 gm) bp, Harlow, I want what is best for her, of course. I have been feeding her live hoppers for the 3 weeks since I've had her. But, I have read and have seen breeders on YouTube say that they feed their young bps rat pups, that they are much better for them. What is better for her, hoppers or rat pups?

Thanks again for everyone's help. I have learned so much already.

Hoppers are too small for a 127g BP.

    Rat pups or adult mice.

If you can get them on rats early, it makes it easier to feed them later on when they are bigger; you only need one rat instead of multiple mice.
It is okay to use pine bedding for snakes.
It is okay to feed live food to snakes.

    Re: Hoppers or Rat Pups?

Thank you, SMarion & 200xth! My head is spinning from all the info, much of it contradicting each other. I think my instincts were pretty good this time, though. She went through a little growth spurt in the last week and 1/2. I noticed she got quite a bit thicker, so I knew it was time to go up with her food. Thank you for finalizing it for me. You guys are the best. I am so glad I have this forum!

No problem! I love this forum. I've been spending more time on it then Facebook lately. So much information available! What does your little lady look like?

    Re: Hoppers or Rat Pups?

    Hi SMarion,

I have a pic of my little Harlow on my profile. I'm not able to post pics yet on the forum. I guess that new members have to have a bit of activity first? Also, I wanted to clarify, when I said I hear contradictory info, I didn't mean on this forum; I meant on the internet as a whole. You just have to take it in and decide what's best for your animal. But, having a forum where there are those who care for and love their animals as much as I do, it's the best source, ya know?
