So my ball python is 18 years old. He used to eat small rats, but as he has gotten older, I had to switch to mice because they seem to be easier for him to hold on to. He won't have anything to do with frozen. With that said, last night I fed him two mice. When he finished the first I gave him the second. My husband and I were cleaning the room he was in and I suddenly noticed that he was looking at us through his tank, ready to strike. He had killed the mouse, but then our movement distracted him so he never ate it. The smell of the mouse signaled him that there was food and our movement is what he wanted. I kept the dead mouse in there for a while, but he never went back to it. Is this normal? Should I just wait a week and get him another mouse?
Since i I removed the mouse, he has stopped trying to eat us through the glass. No more food smell. Lol
