Heat and Humidity in the winter.
So, today I've noticed it getting progressively colder (as it tends to do in the winter). Last winter in California was warm and dry, with only a few inches of rain. This winter however is much colder. My question to you is - How do you keep your BP warm in the cold winter? Today I noticed an extreme drop in his temperatures (the warm side was down to 70!) I noticed increased inactivity of Monty and immediately took him out to warm him up when I noticed his temperature so low. I took all the precautions to figure out why his tank had gotten so cold. Once I had warmed him up he seemed to be a little more active.
I fed him 4 days ago, and his eyes are starting to blue, so I expected some inactivity, but he usually peeks his head out most the time to see what me and my husband are up to.
Do you have any suggestions on how to keep his tank warmer? I have the warmest heat lamp accessible in my part of the state, I have 1 UTH on the side of his tank (as ball pythons can't sense heat coming from the bottom and I don't want my baby to get burnt), and I currently have two towels over the top of his tank to keep the heat in. My husband put warm water on his moss, and re-filled his bowl with warm water as well (not scalding hot, but a few degrees warmer than what I let him soak in when he gets a bath, as he tends to not soak in his water bowl). His tank is up to 78.8 and still rising slowly.
Any suggestions are welcome! Thank you!

Don't place the same thread in different forum sections. Its gets confusing for those trying to help and you end up wasting your time and others answering the same questions in each thread to two groups trying to help you.
By pressing the "Home" button you see all the current threads. This is what most use to see what is active and where those helping other will find those threads needing help now.
As for your issue you could add another lamp to the cold side. I keep my home at 68F and have a 40 gallon glass tank in my living room because I like how it looks. Because its so cold I need a 100 watt che on the warm side and a 60 watt heat lamp on the cool side with a uth on the warm side as well. If I were you I would set up heat lamp, ideally on a tstat. This way you could set to to turn on the extra heat lamp when the temp drops to low so you would not have to monitor it so close.
Your uth should be on the bottom and if NEEDS to be hooked to a tstat. Snakes can feel heat. The issue is they do not react to it as we do and will stay on the heat to long before they realize something is wrong. Also a uth does nothing for your air temps so right now your uth is not giving you any contribution of heat for your snake.
You can also insulate the sides of the tank with cardboard, art paper, foam, etc to trap more heat inside.

Re: Heat and Humidity in the winter.
Thank you for the advice, and as I mentioned in the other thread, I'm new to the forum and I was unaware that there was a "Ball Pythons" thread on the forum.

No problem.
If it were me I would have placed it in the husbandry section. You can see now how having to go from thread to thread on the same topic can get annoying and complicated. Its just better to keep things neat with one thread per topic.

Re: Heat and Humidity in the winter.
Is there a way to check responses without going back to the forum and looking for my post? There has to be an easier way.

As the OP you should be subscribed to the thread so you will get emails that will have a link that will take you directly to new post in your thread.
Also in the "User CP" it will show threads that you are subscribed to that has new post to it.
