:? Hey Everybody,
So have any of you ever noticed that your Ball Pythons are starting to perceptibly slow down as winter is approaching? I am not really sure how I am able to detect this as Ball Pythons are kind of slow all the time but I sort of can tell that my pythons are spending more time in their hides, seem less interested in feeding and they just seem to put off a general air of retirement for the year....maybe it is all in my head but it just seems this way...last winter my small male Cypher went on a three month winter fast - he started feeding again around March...so I am prepared for the fast to begin again soon. Cypher spends all his time in his hide these days....tightly curled up in a ball....he seems to hate being bothered for anything... I just take him out now and then to inspect him and make sure he is okay....he is a very shy Ball.....kind of a timid fellow...and he is small for a Ball python too...anyhow.... 8)
Im starting to ramble on....... :? EyeLashViper

Seems my bp has become quite the opposite. Ozzy has become so much more active. Comes out and plays all the time even when i am in the room w/ the light and tv on. I am starting to think Ozzy is really a female. But Ozzy did start a hunger strike last week and not eat and the weather here has turned a bit cooler, so will see this evening when I try again.
Now Osiris who we are sure is a male has become a little less active but I thought is was because he was starting to shed. Hmmm.... i will have to keep an eye on and see if that may be true

Moving picture
Eleanor has gone on a hunger strike... but I rarely if ever see her in a hide at all as of this month! It's crazy... she sits around out in the open and watches me do stuff and crawls all around like she's hungry and acts interested in food when I offer it... but won't eat. I offered her a rat on Friday and left it in her favorite hide so she'd have to do something with it if she wanted to use her hide. Well, Saturday morning I didn't see a rat! Until I realized she was sleeping on top of it... oh well, she did this last year (maybe she was sexed wrong?? ugh...)

I really couldn't say. I see my bp out of his hide more often now. He doesn't really move around much in the daytime. This morning, for example, he had his head sticking out of his hide. He always comes out at night and cruises around. He's also skipped a meal.

thinking about getting a ball python
My female is probably too young to have the winter months affect her or anything, but she has changed recently. She's been more friendly, and active. I think its because I finally fixed up the temperatures in the tank though. Since I got the warm and cool sides around 90 and 80, she's been more friendly and outgoing. Or maybe she's finally really settled in. It's only been a month and a half that she's been in my care, so I dunno.
