Paper towels or Repti bark? A thought on belly heat

I have had my BP on repti bark. I noticed that it gets really smelly and it's hard to change it out as often as I'd like to keep the smell down. So, I made the change to paper towels. I was wondering though, because the layer between the UTH (on a thermostat) is thinner, should I lower the heat? I currently have it set to 91. Will this hurt my bp or is it okay?

In another thread of yours you said both your thermometer probe and tstat probe are in the tank. Is that true?

    Check that other thread.

If your thermostat is correctly set it shouldn't matter if the bedding is 1mm or 24" thick.

Re: Paper towels or Repti bark? A thought on belly heat

I use shredded coco-coir or "jungle soil" that comes pressed into bricks. I cut the dry brick in half and soak each half in 3\4 gallon of hot water, then use an old sheet to squeeze the excess water out. I have two glass tanks so this method provides a perfect amount of substrate for each. Plus if the soil is still damp it will be pressed down by your BP as it explores making it the perfect thickness for your uth.
