I started with having just one pet snake this past March 2014...now I have a total of 11 pet snakes (what can I say, they are fascinating and like Pringles.) I am sure there are other keepers of multiple snakes on this forum (I.e breeders and small time collectors like myself that enjoy them as pets for the time being.)

I keep 3 of my snakes in Glass Critter Cages with Screen Tops and Built-in Clips, two of my Juvenile Kingsnakes provided with Aspen bedding and one of my baby Ball Pythons with Cypress Mulch bedding (her screen top is sealed with contact paper with a vent slot on both ends to maintain humidity so she is doing fine in there) . The rest I keep in Sterilite Bins with Locks and drilled in holes for ventilation, each with a separate cubby inside an IKEA Xpedit Shelf (sort of a Rack System but I will be building it into 2-4 custom display cages as they reach adulthood.) The snakes in bins get paper towels for substrate as due to limited ventilation and easiness of replacing the paper towel with good washing if needed, I find this to be most sanitary in their case.

I spot clean the cages regularly (with monthly to bimonthly full cleaning and disinfection), replace paper towels for the bins regularly and give them a good wash with warm water, sponge, a mild soap such as dish soap or baby soap if needed or 2-3x weekly each. However, with the bins, I find my washing of the bins to be very time consuming.

For my fellow owners of multiple snakes (breeders and small collectors alike):

WHAT METHODS/TECHNiQUES/PRODUCTS/ HOMEMADE SOLUTIONS DO YOU FIND MOST EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT FOR ROUTINE SANITATION & DISINFECTION PRACTICES FOR MULTIPLE SNAKES IN YOUR COLLECTION?

I am always looking for ways to improve as I love each of my snakes and want to provide the best! Thank you!
