Feeding frozen insects to monitors?

While at a local pet store I overheard someone saying they fed their monitor (think they said ackie but not entirely sure) frozen roaches to cut back on maintenance and prevent harm to the monitor. Has anyone ever heard of this? I've only seen/heard of feeding live insects and an occasional frozen/thawed mouse to ackies.

Whenever my colony was getting crowded I'd freeze half of the adults and a bunch of nymphs to slow down production. I'd be mixing f/t discoids into my tegu and box turtle diets for up to several months depending on the yield. They make great treats for chickens too.

Did it affect the feeding response at all? Seems like the dwarf monitors appetite is stimulated by movement as much as anything.

I only feed f/t roaches as I HATE escapees . They don't provide the same enrichment as live insects but are a good option if you need to buy in bulk or cull some home-bred ones.
