Cut a wrapped cord. Advice on next step.

We cut out last clutch last night and found what looks like a hypo butter with a cord wrapped around it in a knot. We decided to tie it off it floss and cut the cord as it had been unable to absorb what looks like any yolk. Cut tying off and cutting went well but now we are trying to figure out our next move. We have lost a few hatchlings this year we felt that if they got assisted earlier they could have made it. A few by the time there were getting assisted, they were to weak to take a meal.

We want to give this guy the best chance to survive. It's a alive but I wouldn't say very strong. I don't believe it will make it to its first shed. Not sure if it would survive days or weeks.

Wanted to know if we should already try to assist this snake or possibly force it if it doesn't walk it down on its own.

Below are pics of the snake and after the cord was clipped. We believe it would have never made It out of egg.

Re: Cut a wrapped cord. Advice on next step.

I had two "yolk babies" in my BRB litter earlier this year. They were born on 6/13 and after I started assist feeding on 7/12 as they were refusing meals. Looking back I should have started assist feeding them after their first refusal. Live and learn. They were so small that they couldn't even take a mouse pinky, I had to give them a hind leg cut from a f/t adult mouse.

Your little one looks further along in her development than mine were when they were born. I would offer the smallest live mouse fuzzy you can find after the first shed. If she refuses then assist.

This one is large enough to take a mouse pink/fuzzy. Just when I touch it, it doesn't seem as strong as a snake that would if it was healthier.

I had one albino this year that basically had to be force fed and was VERY weak and just took an assisted mouse the first time in like 4 feedings. It didn't absorb its yolk. When I first tried to assist it, it would lay there for 30 minutes with the mouse in its mouth. I just don't want to get it to the point where it's so weak that assisting and or force feeding it would kill it

This little girl is very weak. She has no food due to not being able to absorb any yolk at all. We got the albino male asst fed the next day. He is still alive. And two weeks ago have it first shed. He has her to take his own meal. But is still alive. Out friends say it's a matter of time until he eats on his own. I hope he does soon. That'll make my day

Little update on this girl. She's doing great. We ended up force feeding her the next day. And she was 38 grams. She started to eat on her own the following week. She has shed out a few times already. We are pretty confident that she is a hypo butter

Here is her weigh in from yesterday

She's a pretty baby. I'm happy with her. We ended up wanting to keep her. Her name is Penelope. Billy actually named her! And if you know my boyfriend he doesn't name many things.
