    Just curious

I've seen comments that the different Axanthic lines aren't compatible. So... What happens when they're crossed? Is it a fatal cross? Do the eggs go bad? I haven't found (yet) examples of what has resulted from trying to cross the lines ( in a ghostbuster voice 'Don't cross the streams....' Sorry couldn't help myself ) so does anyone have examples?

If you breed two non-compatible axanthics together you would get double hets. They look normal but would be het for both axanthic lines.

Ahhhhh ok. When I hear 'non compatible' I automatically think fatal or no eggs. Thanks

What makes them non compatible? Like a blood type thing?

Not exactly like blood types. The mutations that produce the different, non compatible lines of axanthics arose interdependently in each line and quite probably in different locations in the snake's genome. So, in a way, although they look more or less the same to us, they are actually very different mutations, acting on different steps in the process of making or distributing yellow pigment.

I see! Now I've got this crazy urge to get one of each line just because... Thank you!
