    BP not pooping!

Hey! I have a 5 month old lesser BP that hasn't pooped in 8 weeks (going on 9 on monday). Two weeks ago I took him to the vet and she gave him three soaks and massaged along him and gave me some medicine to put into his F/T rats (I feed him pinkies and I wanna move him up but until I get him to poop, I can't get an accurate weight and see what size I should move him up to). I have the heated side around 88-92 (mostly around 90) and cool side at 74-77 (Though it hangs around 75.5 and 76 most of the time) and give him daily soaks in warm water for about 10 minutes (If I can. He's super squirmy in water, and only on days I handle him). I have two small pools of water for him but I'm not sure how much he drinks out of it :/ I feed him every week on Wednesdays and his humidity has been a little wonky but I spray several times a day. He isn't too active and I take him out almost every day for exercise to see if that will help (Except for 48 hours after feeding) and when in his tank he hangs around in a little spot that's about 83 degrees. The area by his vent is starting to get bigger and in about four weeks he has gained about 15 grams :/ This past monday I took him back to the vet and she suggested an enema, but at this point I'm just extremely worried about him. She went and did it (yay that's almost 200$ down total) and (thankfully) he's a good boy and didn't need to be sedated (which could slow him down more). Do any of you guys have suggestions? I'm a first time snake momma and I'm super worried about my baby...

    Re: BP not pooping!

As long as your temps are correct and he is eating regularly, he should be fine. He wouldn't eat if he knew that he couldn't poop. Sounds like he's got a case of sausage butt, so he should blow soon if he hasn't already. I would highly advise against an enema on a snake or reptile in general, but I am no where near qualified to tell you what to and not to do.

You said he's 5 months old, hasn't pooped in months and has only gained 15g in the last 4 weeks?

    Two questions:

How many rat pinkies are you feeding him each week?

What does he currently weigh at the moment?

Rat pinkies are very small. It sounds like you may just not be feeding him enough.

I am afraid you wasted money taking him to a vet for this non issue, and the vet is a quack, now that we have that out of the way here is the root of your problem (see part in bold)

    I have a 5 month old
    I feed him pinkies
    You are underfeeding your BP.

Pinkie rats or mice are WAY TOO SMALL for a BP that age.

An hatchling out of the egg will start on hopper mice or rat crawlers.

Hatchlings and juvenile utilize most of their prey for their growth, living little to be defecated, now if you are underfeeding your BP this means NO poop.

So the issue here is that food = poop, what goes in must go out, if nothing goes in or not enough than the little that goes in is being used entirely.

I wanna move him up but until I get him to poop, I can't get an accurate weight and see what size I should move him up to
One has NOTHING to do with the other, you do not need a weight to switch to a bigger prey, you just need to feed a prey equal the animal's girth size.

Now as far as empty weight your BP is empty anyway see above.
