    Weight & Age question

Hi yall! I've got a questionish sorta thing, my hubs bought us a pair of ball pythons for our anniversary from a local chain pet store. The gal working there informed us that the snakes should be fed mouse fuzzies and told us that the snakes were litter mates (is that the right term?) and were about 4 months old. This was the end of Sept.

I've been researching and reading, lurking here, getting books and reading blogs and youtubing and just trying to learn everything I possibly can about these awesome snakes. I've noticed many people talking about feeding their bp rat pups and fuzzies and I've noticed on youtube a few snakes which are (if I calculated correctly) younger than these two but are much larger.

I'm buying a BEL who was hatched end of june and from the pics/youtube vids she's close to twice the size of my lil Li (who keeps trying to type along with me >.< ).

I've been feeding them every friday f/t mouse fuzzies. Livia hasn't had feeding issues, Li seems picky. I'm worried they're not getting enough to eat so last feeding day I offered Livea (hub's python, aka Grumpy) an adult mouse and she devoured it. Li just sorta looked at it and at me like 'Are you nuts?' and proceeded to try to crawl out of the tub and onto the mirror ignoring mr mouse all together. I gather from reading posts here that telling bp age isn't easy, and that there are many factors involved. I get that, but I'm worried.

I've got some more frozen adult mice and more fuzzies. Should I offer her more than one fuzzy? Try giving her an adult again? Or just chill and stop stressing about it?

I *just* took this picture, that way yall can get a look at her. I may just be over-reacting but... yeah.

Anyways, thanks in advance. I'm very glad I found this place. So much information!

    Re: Weight & Age question

Most ball pythons at that age should be able to eat adult mice. In fact, most hatchlings can take down weanlings. You can try rat pups as well, but fuzzies are way too small.

That's what I suspected, it's nice to hear back that my gut was right. I'll try to offer her the adult next feeding. Thank you!

Just as a rule of thumb you want to be feeding a food item that is the same circumference as the animal you are feeding it to.
