We have been waiting for some of these babies to get some size and see what they look like after a few sheds with some more size. We have been swaying back and forth on what is possibly going on here, and after much comparison do not think we have Black Pastel in the mix here.
We do believe we are working with a new gene that is yet to be proven out with our female holdbacks. We are holding back 0.2 "Normal" Dinkers and 0.1 Pinstripe Dinker along with a 1.0 Banana Dinker and 2.0 Banana Pinstripe Dinkers.
Note all hatchlings with the Pinstripe gene are very wonky.... crazy stripes and pattern around the neck area, flames, and very clean dorsal stripes on the back half.
Amazing the color variation between the 2.0 Banana Pinstripes?? One is bright as heck and the other almost looks like it is a Ghost. This picture is within a day of a fresh shed on the lighter one and within a week on the brighter one. To our knowledge our Pinstripe 11F3 is not Het Ghost and neither was the original sire. Comparing on WOBP's, we do not believe there is Black Pastel in any of these hatchlings as we previously we thinking.
Nice bonus would be some of these Dinkers from our Pied 11F1 clutch that is due to cut on 11/11/2014
Original 1.0 Banana Dinker sire (different lighting from our old light tent)....
1.0 Banana Dinker hatchling....
1.0 Banana Pinstripe Dinker 14M1..... 340g freshly shed.
1.0 Banana Pinstripe Dinker 14M2..... 100g freshly shed. He was a small guy out of the egg and had to be assist fed twice before he started taking pinks on his own. Two sheds and this pic is one day after a fresh shed. Also a pic of his shed.... Ghost??
Both Banana Pinstripes for comparison. Same clutch from Pinstripe 11F3!!
0.1 "Normal" Dinker 14F1.... same sire but to a reduced Normal 10F1 from The Herp Vault....
0.1 "Normal" Dinker 14F2.... same sire but to a reduced Normal 10F1 from The Herp Vault. Just shed this morning...
0.1 Pinstripe Dinker 14F1 (same clutch as the Banana Pinstripes (Pinstripe 11F3).... small girl out of the egg as well. Assist fed a few times and has now taken a mouse hopper on her own.
