Urate frequency?
Hey everyone. This is probably another case of over-thinking so bear with me, but I was hoping to get some information about how often a bp should have urates. Shesha has been with me a little over a month and I have removed 4 urates from his tank so far. He has deficated once. I have read on some boards and articles that urate frequency does not necessarily go hand in hand with bowel movements, but I have also read various places that snakes will often hold urates until they have a bowel movement. It occurred to me that if frequent urination in humans can indicate problems, perhaps there is a such thing as a snake having too frequent urination. I have seen him drink a couple of time, not in excess, but I do offer him water by holding him above his water bowl before putting him back after handling and he will sometimes drink when prompted to. He is eating F/T rats so I am not sure if these give them more or less hydration than live prey. Anyway, is it normal to find urates about once every 10 days or so? I figure I probably should know what normal is so that I would recognize anything abnormal. Thanks everyone!
