Do Ball Pythons day dream?

So im not really worried or anything I just wanted ask if your Ball Python daydreams? Mine (very often) sits in either one of its hides and rests his head out the open for nearly the entire day. It looks like he is day dreaming, Deep in thought, or just figuring out life.

My Gloria does this. I don't think they're day dreaming though. Just wondering when the next rat will come by!

I doubt there has ever been any actual research about this, or if it even could be researched. Any responce is most likely just gonna be speculation and opinion.

My opinion, I doubt they do. A snakes brain probably doesn't function on that level.

If you wanna think it's happening though there is nothing wrong with that. As long as you are just stating its an opinion of yours that your snake does this and don't try to pass it off like it's a fact that the snake does this. It won't hurt anything if you like to daydream your snake is daydreaming.

Who knows maybe the snake is actually laying there dreaming it had a life free from a tank. Most likely not true though IMO.

They don't have eye lids. I think they just sleep most of the day.

I think its more like: Eat, sleep, shed, then defecate in their freshly cleaned cage. Eat, sleep shed etc...

My little guy does this on an incredibly regular basis. He sleeps coiled in his hide during the day, but at sunset or so he will have his nose poking out of his hide while resting in a loose S shape. He stays that way until about midnight and then he is curled back up in his hide. It has been my understanding that he is "hunting". Since they are ambush hunters they will lie in wait until something walks by, I think he is convinced that he will find a rogue rat if he waits long enough. I guess in a way he is right, but is missing a big part of the equation.

I do sometimes notice that he will stare at things while being handled without any really explicable reason. Sometimes he will extend his body and stare people in the face for about 20 seconds, then go back to what he was doing as though nothing happened. The other day he happened to be staring at the TV while a movie trailer played. The moment it ended I glanced over at him and he looked right at me and flicked his tongue as if to offer an opinion on it. Of course, this is almost certainly coincidence and I don't think he had any interest in the trailer, but it definitely is fun to watch them and wonder what is going through their heads sometimes.

I don't think snakes day dream, however i am of the belief that they do have incredibly diverse personalities. Nagini can sit on my chest and never move. I can handle him in shed no problem, has never so much as hissed at me even if I surprise him. My friend has a BP that he handles in the exact same manner, and as often as I do Nagini. But this snake is a pissy biyotch. If she doesn't want to be handled, she lets you know it. Loudly.

My Albino boy spends a lot of time daydreaming about custom cars, and motorcycles ............ I tried to explain to him that he can't drive, because he has no hands or feet ....... but I guess he can still dream.
