    A few questions about R.I

    Hi guys,

Been keeping snakes for about 9 years now and haven't really ran across R.I. However, I lost a beloved Boa 3 weeks ago unexpectedly with absolutely no warning signs that she might be sick and since I didn't get a necropsy done I have been keeping an eye on my other snakes to make sure that they seem normal and whatever my Boa had was not contagious.

I have a Butter Ball Python that was housed right under her and over the past week he has been unusually active. I don't know if it was a new hide that I placed in the enclosure, breeding, season, or what could have triggered it, but in the midst of his over-activeness I saw him lay against the wall of the enclosure with his head up in the air for brief occasions. I know that sometimes a sick snake with R.I might do this so I have kept a closer eye on him and last night I was examining his mouth. Nothing stood out at me, but then again I don't know exactly what I am looking for. Along the jaw line it was clean, but I did see very small tiny bubbles. I noticed more after I struggled with him a bit to get his mouth open. Maybe the struggle could of caused it. I hear no wheezing, clicking, or obstructions in breathing when I am handling him. No mucous or bubbles expelling from his mouth or anything either.

The only symptoms I'm going on right now is seeing him a couple times against the wall of the enclosure and those few tiny bubbles in his mouth (but again, mostly after I struggled to get his mouth open). Is this enough to get worried? Are some tiny bubbles normal?

I should add he refused food the last 2 weeks (never was a great eater), but he did eat 2 rats 3 weeks ago and had a perfect shed after.

    Thanks in advance.
