    Ball pythons aim is off?

Is this normal? I was just feeding my python, the (f/t) rat was right in front of him but when he struck he was off to the left and actually struck himself on the side! He did this twice before finally getting the rat... could it just be from the heat sensors?

A thread from five days ago that may help: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...issing-strikes.

TL;DR: Make sure the rat is warm enough (100 F or so - especially the head) and he'll have less problems.

Thanks! ...I was just worried is all. And yeah the rat was thawed but maybe just not quite warm enough... I'll try heating it up with a hair dryer next time

Is it a normal BP because I found that my spider BP's miss one or two times before hitting it

My spider will miss any live rat like that but F/T he gets every time (but only when I leave him alone with it.) I would agree with Eric. Make sure the rat is hot enough. If you have a laser temperature gun it would help a lot! I'm sure your BP's heat pits are fine.

Spiders miss sometimes because the wobbel missguides them!
