    Frozen feeder rats in NYC?

    Hi all,

I have a 3 month old bp who only eats rats. At most pet stores I've been to, they only sell the smallest sizes (pinky and fuzzy) and adults - no in-between sizes.

So, I'm searching for frozen rat pups (one size bigger than a fuzzy) in NYC. Any advice?

    Thanks!

Just buy in bulk! Look on local classified for CL for a rat breeder! Also Rat factory? or soemthing along the lines of that name, and you oculd order say 20-40 rats. (to save package cost) then have a few months supply of rats.

Unfortunately I can't do bulk because I share a tiny freezer with 4 people, but I will definitely look into your other suggestions. Thank you!

Possibly buy a small freezer off Craiglist? I picked up a decent sized one off Kijiji(canadian CL) for 40$

I haven't been to the long island expo but it is this Sunday. http://reptileexpo.com/lifirst.htm When I went to White Plains there was multiple vendors with all sizes of F/T rats and mice. By not doing bulk did you mean the others don't want rats in the freezer or due to size? The size rats you are looking for should fit 12-20 in a small ziploc bag so it won't take up much room.

D&j reptiles in amityville has both live and frozen feeders but their frozen supply is pretty random. I would suggest going to the expos around here specifically white plains. It comes around about every 3 months and you can get a supply to last you until the next one. A 3 month supply shouldn't take up too much space if you only have 1 ball python on a weekly feeding schedule. If the people you live with are completely disgusted by the thought of having rats in the fridge you might have a problem but if they can deal with it you Can make it work. im planning on going to the Long Island show this weekend to pick up frozen rats

Just put the bags of rats in a solid color tupperwear and claim a small space! They wont see it it'll be ok!

OR EVEN Buy a tub of icecream, Eat it... Mark it as yours... place bags of rats in icecream tub... profit! Now noone will attempt to steal icecream anymore also if they happen to open.

Go to the white Plains reptile expo. There's a long Island one too. Frozen feeders for sale at both of them!

Re: Frozen feeder rats in NYC?

I love the ice cream idea! (Although the biggest I can use in my tiny freezer is a Ben & Jerry's container - NYC on a tight budget is not terribly glamorous / spacious.)

Hopefully I'll be able to catch a ride to a show soon.

Thank you all for your replies!
