    Prey Size for Young BP

I just brought home my male ball python (currently unnamed because I can't decide). He weighs 92 grams and is 4-5 months old. (Waiting on reply from the breeder with his hatch date.) He was eating F/T Fuzzies, but from what I've read it's looking like he should be eating something between 9-15 grams, so a hopper or small mouse once a week. I grabbed 2 fuzzies at Petsmart before bringing him home, but I'm thinking I need to upgrade. I don't want to order online because the large quantities that are required and I only have 1 snake. Do you think the Small Mice from Petsmart will be too large? The box says 40 grams, but it doesn't say if that is each or for the total 4 in the box. I plan to start ordering online once he is eating the same size for awhile and I can buy in "bulk". The smallest quantity I could find was 10, but the shipping was $35, so it doesn't make sense economically when I can get the same thing at Petsmart. Anyway, all that to say, any suggestions or confirmations on prey size or tips for where to buy frozen feeders near Kansas City?

Also, he has a retained eye cap on one side and a bit of stuck shed on his head. I've upped the humidity in his enclosure to 72%. How long should I wait to see if it comes off before stepping in and soaking? I'm trying to minimize handling since I just brought him home.

Re: Prey Size for Young BP

I get mine from the local pet store think it's pet smart either way there arctic some thing but it says on the package what the grams are I bought small last time and believe they were 7-9 grams. The 40g was probably the whole box. Could always check rodentpro they tell gram ranges for each size and would guess there probably similar to others for sale
