    Should I help him shed?

My ball python is shedding today. He took his head off perfectly, but seems like he can't get the rest started. There's plenty of stuff for him to rub on, but he seems intent on using the smoothest flimsiest hide. He doesn't want to come out to shed and idk why. This is his first shed with me. He's sleeping now that it's daylight. I woke up early this am when it was still dark and witnessed him trying to shed in his hide.

Just try to let him do his thing, they don't really like it when you touch them or hold them during shed. Wait a day and if it starts coming off in pieces then you could give him a lukewarm bath to let him soak. DONT PEEL IT OFF.. just gently rub him while he's soaking and it'll help.

Keep the humidity up but otherwise leave him be. The shed will come off when it's ready, and you can do a lot of harm if you try to pull it off before then.
