Quick humidity question
After perusing this forum, I can see that the general consensus is that extremely high humidity is a big no-no due to RIs. With Lily's tub, it's caused me a headache or two. While her heat is fine, it took me a million years to bring down her humidity. Before it was nearly in the 90s, condensation on the sides, the whole nine yards. Now after carving a bunch of holes into it myself after the initial batch, nearly slicing open my fingers with the scissors to do it and then giving up and having my boyfriend have at it with his flip knife (I reeeally need a soldering iron), I've gotten the humidity down to 75. Everything pretty dry in there now though. Condensation's gone, her newspaper stays nice and dry and when I stick my hand in there, I don't feel the humidity. Her tub looks like Swiss cheese. What are your thoughts, people? Think she'll be okay like this?

Re: Quick humidity question
75 is fine. In the wild, they'll be in burrows where the humidity is above 90% a good part of the year. One of the helpful members here posted a chart showing so. Anyway, the humidity in my tub fluctuates between 70 and 80% and my snake has great sheds and is in great shape. RIs are more likely with low humidity.

I only have one row of holes on two sides of all my tubs, I just keep the water bowl on the cooler side and they all do okay.

That's very reassuring to hear! I'm just so paranoid with her because she's so young. I'm pretty easygoing with my corn because she's already gotten quite the head start in life, I don't even bother with leaving an AcuRite in there because it's always stable in there and I know she can take fluctuations easily. But with Lily it's like, "OMG HER HUMIDITY WENT UP 1%!!! MUST REACT!!! "

A drill works fine to make holes too.
I dont like to keep my humidity that high consistently. To manage it you can place a fan across the room or turn on a ceiling fan if the room has one. Dont point a fan directly at it and start off with a lower sitting. This will help from getting stagnant air and drop the humidity a bit.
If you're using a damp substrate like cypress mulch it will dry out with time and drop the humidity as well.
