    Humidity

Ok so i got my tank set up. cool side sits just above 80, hot side around 90. the humidity varies from 40-60. if the one light is not right above the water dish the humidity goes down to 40. if the light is right above the dish it goes to 60. i have read and some places say it needs to be between 50-70. and others say 40-60. so which one is it? is 40 an ok humidity? I get Morty this evening so want to make sure everything is set up perfectly

50 is best, but 40-60 is fine. I'd say 40 on an everyday is fine, but when in shed bump it up to 60.

If 90 is an ambient temp it does not need to be so high. Your ambient temp will be great at 77-82 with a hotspot of 88-90. Lowering an ambient temp from 90 will raise your humidity too.

My tank always has low humidity. I combat this problem by placing moss in the hides. During a shed I keep it damp but when not in shed I dampen the moss and then allow it to dry out again. This has given my great sheds even though the tank stays at 30-40. The humidity in the hide is greater and since the snake is there most of the time it benefits directly from it.w

I do a similar thing to KMG but with cut up chunks of sponge in a tupperware with holes it it. Its just more reusable than moss. Like KMG said when i notice them starting to go into shed I pop it in the hide if there is room or over the UTH if not, this way the water heats, evaporates more rapidly, raises humidity yada yada. They have nice sheds and everyone seems happy.

I have not had an issue with moss. It last me a long time. I used a device like you for awhile but had issues with the sponge molding so I switched to moss. I was trying to keep the sponge device within the tank and I think that's where my problem started.

Ya every once in a while some dork would flip theirs over and spill water. So now I just use wet sponge without standing water and switch it out usually every two days, if they havent shed by then, this way the sponge can dry and I dont run into mold issues. But ya I'm sure moss works great.

    Misting does help.

Switching to cypress mulch would help as well.
