I haven't been around here in a long, long time!

Well, before going to the Sacremento Expo this yeah, I promised myself 1 colubrid (King, Milk, or Rat) and 1 bug (Mantis, Tarantula, Roach, Millipede) I was also there to get a big fancy display case, but I didn't like the stuff within my budget. Pineapple got a new cage, however! I've been wanting to go all-screen with my cresties for awhile now. I got a good deal from LLL's booth on a chameleon setup, and I took it! I'll be getting the girls a larger one to share on Amazon later.

Spot the gecko!

There were tons and tons of beautiful snakey babies there. One booth in particular, I agonized over their beautiful cali king morphs for ages. My own cali king was released by my small child, methinks, and poor Matthew was never seen again. We've moved since, so all hopes of finding him are gone, but I take comfort in that he's in his natural habitat, and was nice and healthy. So I hope he's out there somewhere making babies.

Wanting to wander around a bit, I got away from all the hatchlings, and found myself at the reptile rescue/adoption booth. And then I saw him. (or her.) I held him. I adopted him, right away. No agonizing!

I know he's a king, or something similar. They thought he was a Cali king morph, but didn't know which one. I would be inclined to agree, although I can't find any cali king morphs that come close. He reminds me of a brooksi with all his speckles. The closest snake I can find that matches him is a Hypo Brooks King. What do you guys think?

Other than snake mites (ick) and a poor bruised nose (He did not like the plastic container he was displayed in!) he's perfect. I named him Limonchello, and he's just...fabulous. I do not regret passing by all those babies one bit. And I'm rather startled that someone would surrender him over to the rescue. He's getting his own display case once he's out of QT. He is just that stunning in person.

And my bug! I've become bumblebee obsessed, so fittingly I bought myself a bumblebee millipede, and set him up a little viv. Hopefully my earth stars root!

I am sure I will never see him again.
