BP bit down on hemostat hard!

Worried about possible injury, fairly young BP bit down on my hemostat really hard and I couldn't remove it initially. I tried gently wiggling it free of its grip and swear I felt it scrape a fang or something, which terrified me. So I let it go and gave him a little squirt of water in the face to make him release it. Afterwards his mouth seemed slightly ajar, and he gave me a seriously accusing look, probably due to the water. His jaw seems to look more normal now, so maybe he just straightened himself out.

Anyway I can't tell if his jaw/fangs might have been messed up at all. He seems to still be trying to eat the f/t rat that was in there, so I don't wanna get too close and distract him.

Pretty safe to say that if he eats it he's OK and if he is unable he may have an injury?

Very freaked out, this snake is definitely not my cheapest.

Ball pythons don't have fangs. I'm sure he's fine. Mine have completely struck and faceplanted their enclosures. It usually just disaligns their jaw temporarily. I'd only be worried if you notice bleeding or swelling.

^ agreed and yeah if he's still eating I'm sure he's good.. But for future reference don't try wiggling out of his grip.. You don't wanna break teeth, gotta let them let go

I actually thought I'd sound like a noob (which, if you can't tell, I am) calling them teeth. I mean, I know they're not for like, venom or anything. Thanks, haha.

Also, he totally housed it even though it was a step up in prey size for him, and his jaw looks fine.

I can't help but freak out when even little things go wrong as I've only had BPs for under 2 years now, so I don't know what's a big problem.

Very very relieved. Also, all 4 of my BPs ate tonight! Feeling good.

That's great when they all eat! They actually are teeth

As long as his jaw looks okay I wouldn't worry. My spider girl especially is a clutz and tends to "miss" the first time or two when she's excited. She's slammed pretty hard into my hemostats/tub/rack wall quite a few times. Her jaw gets all crazy disaligned and then she's fine after she eats and stretches it out.

I'm actually amazed he still took it! He stayed loosely coiled around it even when I squirted him. In retrospect, I think he was looking at me like I was going to try to steal the rat back from him.

    He's a little monster!
