    Scamming in Facebook Groups

Has anyone had any issues buying snake from Facebook Groups?

The reason I ask is I have been looking for a specific Ball Python morph. I have been contacted by several people. Three of these people now have sent me the same picture of a snake only with different company logos in the corner of the photo. It makes it hard to keep track of who is legit.

Anyone else seen this or did I just have bad luck?

There isn't a perfect place to buy, but facebook would be a lot easier as it's not going to be regulated and a fresh account is an email away, I always thought it was a poor resource for anything with the hobby, but hey, its free.

You could always reverse google search the image if you think that they might be using someone else's pic as their own.

The problem with facebook is that no one is there to police ads and weed out to potential scammers like on forums such as Fauna, here, Kingsnake, The Market Place so there is a lot more potential for possible scams people that comes and go etc.

The bottom line is still the same as a buyer because there are legit people on facebook too, DO your homework, research the seller, ask if people (that you can trust) if they know of the seller, done business with him etc

You can always ask the seller to take a picture of the snake with a note. On the note have the date and maybe a specific code word.

Granted, they could still scam you and not send the snake.

Instead of putting up a WTB ad, contact breeders with good reputations who you know are working with the gene combo(s) you want to purchase, and see what they have available.
