Cool New Reptile Breeder Directory Website! Breeders Can Sign Up Now for FREE Listings!

As a breeder of various reptile species and small business owner myself, I know how hard it can be to get enough website traffic to sell animals! And I'm tired of writing up classified ads and paying for them in order for customers to find what's already listed for sale on my website! Classifieds are okay for shopping if you are looking for something specific, but my favorite way to shop for reptiles is actually browsing breeder websites. That often proves challenging, though, because there are so many breeders of many different species and not many of organized ways to locate them!

So, recently I decided to start a comprehensive online reptile breeder directory and was fortunate enough to secure the most logical URL that I could think of for such a site: www.ReptileBreederDirectory.com. The idea here is that small business reptile breeders that register can have FREE breeder profiles on the site with basic information on who they are, what species they produce, location, contact info as desired and links to their websites, Facebook pages or whatever consistent online place they use to post their reptiles for sale. My hope is that the directory will bring more traffic to independent reptile breeders and businesses at no cost to them, while facilitating shopping for their potential customers!

Anyway, the basic website is now published online, but I haven't published the breeder listings just yet. I still need more of those, and am hoping that some of you breeders here will sign up and give it a try. It's totally FREE! No harm in trying it out to see if it brings more traffic to your business and helps boost sales, right? It is super easy to sign up as a breeder! All you have to do is fill out the automated blue form from the site, which I have linked here, and I will re-publish the site with breeder profiles as soon as I feel like I have enough breeders signed up. Anyway here is a link to the EASY automated Reptile Breeder Information Form you can use to register: Reptile Breeder Information Form

    Thanks!

Oh wow this is such a great idea! Thanks so much for taking the time to help out small breeders that are having trouble selling all there animals. I will definitely be signing up for this when I start breeding and get my site up and running I hope the site really takes off.

    Very cool...good luck with this!!

If I could make a suggestion though, you might want to have a website designer take a look at it and give it a few tweaks to make it more user friendly and inviting. The red-on-blue text (for instance) is extremely off-putting and won't make anyone want to stay on the site long enough to see what it has to offer. The idea though, is very intriguing and I hope you can make it work!

Thanks for your nice comments! The red on blue sign isn't permanent. It's just a temporary sign to let people who land there know that the site is brand new and not fully functional just yet. I can change the colors very easily. Any suggestions for a different color scheme that would look nice but still get people's attention?

It's a great idea, and I really wanted to check the site out. But like JLC said, that red text on blue is harsh. I couldn't read it, had to leave the site. It just really hurt my eyes and head.

Okay, I replaced the red letters on the temporary sign with light green letters. Take a look: Reptile Breeder Directory. Does that make it easier to look at? And does it get your attention enough?

It's a great idea and a great domain name however, the problem with the layout and the color scheme is that it does not look professional therefore whether on are on the breeder's end or customer looking for a breeder it is not inviting nor does it look legit.

Getting a professional look will go further compare to getting attention with flashy colors.

Not sure how you are hosting your site but here is a tip try to have it powered with wordpress, wordpress has tons of professional looking templates that are free.

Re: New Reptile Breeder Directory Website! Breeders Can Sign Up Now for FREE Listings

Thanks for your feedback, Deborah! I have professional design software with all kinds of templates available, but I didn't see any that I particularly liked for this type of a website. I think the layout I have is fairly typical, and I don't find the color scheme particularly flashy myself. Is the blue too bright? Can you tell me specifically what you think doesn't look professional about it? Colors and layout are very easy to change, and I can certainly tweak them easily enough.

Aside for the concept or the layout - great idea to run Google Adsense on the pages. Even if nobody really uses it, as long as you do your SEO well you'll make some cash!

The design looks very 1999... Definitely anything that looks modern will look more professional imo. That shade of blue is blindingly bright, and the color scheme is too contrasting.
