Shedding Prob!!

Its been 2 days since my BP, Loki, finished his shed, well atleast his body. His head still has not shed!! Its like he is shedding backwards.... I have bathed him daily over the past few days and tried numerous techs to get the dry skin off but none have worked should I worry about it and possibly take him to the vet to have it removed? Or should I just chill out and hope that he will eventually get it off? Please help its like he is shedding backwards

I would continue to soak him. If it goes till Monday, I would make yourself a vet appt. Keep the humidity up and try to get something in there for him to rub against.

Here's a trick that works really well for me.

Get a rubbermaid container that your snake can comfortably fit into. Get some sphagnum moss - this is available at a garden center, Home Depot, & sometimes even Wal Mart. Soak the sphagnum moss with warm water & wring it out - you want it to feel like a wet - but not SOPPING WET - wash cloth. Fill the rubbermaid box half-full of sphagnum moss and add your ball python. Put the lid on the box, and leave in a warm (not hot!) place overnight. Your ball python will spend time cruising around the box & pushing through the moss, and all the moisture will help him loosen the retained shed.

If you can't find any sphagnum moss, you can use the same technique with a couple of damp towels. Just don't use big heavy towels that are drenched with water if you have a small snake, as he could become trapped under them and suffocate.

I like to use the pillow case technique. Take a pillow case, make it wet with warm water, place ball inside with a semi-damp wash cloth, fold over to keep him from escaping, and place in a worm place. Works everytime for me. Good luck
