    Moving to a bigger tub

    Heya,

ok so i moved my Orange Ghost to a bigger tub yesterday and thought lets share what my plan of action was and how it worked out.

So, it all started at the moment i had to take my OG out of her tub and place her into a bigger tub everytime i had to feed her as i felt like the tub she was in was just to tight to realy be freely taking the mouse, she is on mice cause she never ever even made a strike at a rat.....
but she was/is doing fine on mice just annoying i have to feed her like 2 mice every time.

I was sure it was time to make an rack with bigger tubs so i did

Now the problems was when to move her to the new tub as i didnt wanna do it right before feeding and after feeding i always leave my snakes be for 1 day atleast.

then i remembered the article by J. Kobylka (i recommend any one to read it if you haven't yet.) about problem feeders and how they live in the wild and that BP's move to a new Burrow/termite hole after they have shed and/or pooped.

so remembering that when i saw my OG in shed i switched on the thermostat on the new rack and let it run so i could do some tests and check if it was all working.

Now i was thinking about the moving to another burrow part and was like ok but that burrow will probably smell like rodents/prey, so yesterday (she shed the day before yesterday) just about 5 or 10 minutes before i moved my OG to her new tub i thought i might be a good idea to place an living rat in her tub to get some smell of the rat in her tub and make it a bit more like how it would be in the wild.
Then i removed the rat and placed my OG in that tub and let her be for the rest of the day.

Today was feeding day and even though it was only 1 day after i moved her i tried to feed her and guess what, SHE TOOK A RAT!!

now i am not sure if it was because i let the rat in there for a couple of minutes to get the smell of rat in the tub or that she was just so hungry after her shed that she didnt wanna be that picky about mice or rats anymore but i am very happy she took the rat

I wanted to share this as i am sure there more people who have BP's that wont takes rats so i thought lets share this and maybe it can help them too.

also would i like to know what the more experienced BP keepers think about this and if it could have been my plan of action that got her to take the rat.

Sorry for my typo's but english isnt my native language and if anything isnt clear please ask me.

here are some pic's of her old tub and her new tub sizes

I think your putting to much thought into snakes! Feed her in her New bigger tub. If she dont take rat keep on mice, Try scenty mice with rats if poss, Or just realize she is a mouser.
