Ok, this may be a little out there, but my good friend's mom, "The Snake" (that's what we call her), claims that she read that snakes like it if you rub their bellies in little circles... Also, my friend's mom is insane... So I don't know if I should believe her or not. Anyone heard of this?

Snakes dont like to be handled whether its rubbing them or holding them. They just tolerate it.I'm pretty sure thats wrong.

m'eh, both of my BP's seem to enjoy being handled, i'm not sure of them enjoying a "belly rub"
but they'll definitely try to be escape artists after being handled, just pacing their cages hoping to be handled again......but i've also had a few other snakes in my time that never even wanted their tanks open, lol

What you think is pacing the cage wanting to be handled more could be them wanting to be out of the cage free again. I don't believe snakes like handling much really. They'll tolerate it, and some may tolerate it more than others. But I don't think they actually like it and strive for it. Not bp's anyway..they seem more shy and reclusive.

So ya, I doubt they like being pet on their belly. When I first handled mine, I would pet her sides and she'd ripple her muscles. It looked like she was ticklish and liked it, but then I soon realised it probably bothers her, and the movement she makes is her flinching from my touch, lol.

    I thought that was dogs?

If you rubbed in circles you'd invariably be rubbing against the direction of the scales and I can't see how they'd like that.
