Size meal for an adult male?

Ive been worried about my male getting enough to eat. He was born mid 2012 but was a rescue and when I got him at a year old he was only a ft long and super skinny. I feed him small rats now, anywhere from once a week to once every two weeks. But lately he seems to be more hungry.I tried two small rats but he wouldnt take the second. Im thinking he is a bit under three feet and seems girthy to me but this is my only ball python(for now)
The small rats are from rodentpro and pretty small.
I bought mediums for my boa and they are huge(large size).

I will be having to make another order soon so wanted to figure out the sizes I would need in the next 6 mnths.
I will post some pics here later.
