Well...there's too many possibilities - can you narrow it down some? Snake, lizard, etc. What are your size limits? Herbivore, carnivore, insectivore, etc? Give us some ideas as to what you do and don't want and that will make it easier.

leopard geckosare are a good choice and can live in a ten gal for all of thier lives (but if i got one i would give it a bigger tank anyways)

corn snakes are also another good choice, easy to care for and usually real good eaters..........well at least mine is.

Yeah, the list of possibilities is soooo vast.....really depends on what you want.

From what I have I'd recommend a Crested Gecko, cornsnake or blue tongue skink - but even from those 3 it really depends on what you mean by 'small' and how much care you want to give.

    kingsnakes,Blue tongued Skinks,Bearded dragons,uromastyx,rat snakes
all would be way to big to be housed in a realitivily samll encloser, id go for the lepord gecko if you don't want someting of size

If you want a snake, try a blood python.....but read up a lot about them they get 5-6ft.
I would recomend staying away from the bloods. Thats not a snake for beginers. They have amazing girth, and can be quite aggresive, However thats not saying that they are ALL aggresive, KLG can protest to that
