    First expo

I went to my first expo today. Didn't see too much variety in Ball Pythons or in general really. There was a company called HDI there, they had the most variety and the fastest talkers. There were 3 different Chameleon vendors and it seemed like every one had some BP's on the table if anything just a Spider or Normal female listed at 100-300 dollars. I did manage to get a few good deals though. I walked away with a bright reduced 100% het pied girl, a 100% het pied male with nice blushing, a 2 super bright and reduced normal females (one from Brian), a normal female, and a Tessera corn snake.

Yes I'll upload a couple of my new girls. Both the het pied and the normal girl were trying to become my new favorites when I got them home. They didn't want to go into their new enclosures and kept climbing back up my arm. My male even did a full extension and licked my nose, it was quite interesting. Their Albinos were WAY too much for me and I only saw 1 het Albino at the whole expo.

Yeah, there was an expo here in town back in April, the only albino there was a male about the size of the one I got last week, and let's just say they were very proud of him!!
I didn't have that kind of pocket change at the time, and I am glad I didn't because I think I got a much better deal

    Re: First expo

Hey, I was at the expo yesterday, too! Maybe we ran into each other. I was really impressed by the quality and pricing of the snakes at The Tropical Hut's booth (though maybe we have different aesthetic preferences). I bought my first snake, the female Butter Pastel, from them. It was love at first sight!

Perhaps, it was rather tight fitting in there. I'm pretty gangly looking and was wearing a black hat, geeky glasses and at times a blue sweater. I was walking around in circles for hours occasionally stopping to ponder my bank account while readjusting my purchases. Despite lots of people wearing batman shirts I still managed to get some comments. I started off with my sweater but quickly started to over heat plus I used to to wrap up some snakes with so they couldn't see what was going on. I can't remember which one was the tropical hut but I thought all of the prices there were a bit too much with some exceptions. I couldn't have even got a normal Corn Snake for less than 30. I really wanted to walk away with some Leopard gecko morphs but again, out of my price range. If I had got a booth there to sell off my reptile collection, assuming people bought my animals, I could have at least tripled what I paid. Pete's Pieds hooked me up with a really great deal on some hets. I'm really excited to start cranking out some Pieds over the next several years! Thanks to that expo I now have some good building blocks for at least 3 different really nice projects that should turn out great. I almost walked away with a Specter for 200 bucks and I'm kicking myself in the butt now for not doing it. The Super Stripes are such an awesome snake. I ended up buying from that young kid in the back right corner (with his grandpa, the dude with the killer mustache), Pete's Pieds, Brian Breikss, Alan Cole, and Corn Magic. Corn Magic was the first booth slightly to the left when you entered into the doors. I think the guy was a bit strange and was trying to only sell his female Tessera Corn snakes but I believe I ended up with a male. After I agreed to buy the snake I saw him do a victory dance LOL same with another vendor who bragged to the guy he was with about being even now lol I'll resex te Corn later but if it is indeed a male I guess I'll have to start building an army of females for him I was really shocked at the lack of Veiled Chameleons too considering all of the Ambilobe Pathers. I now know what types of Chameleons I need to start stocking up on. I can't wait for a few more years down the road

There was a Repticon here back in April, and another coming in November. S&S Exotics, and New Age Exotics were VERY proud of their animals. There were some I guess you would call them "hobby breeders" and their prices were much more reasonable. I will probably go to the one in November, but probably won't buy anything. Just going because the Herp Society I belong to is going to have a booth, and I will help them out.
