You will only need one thermostat to regulate the temperature of your UTH or heat tape. What you're seeing when you see 80-85 is the ambient temperatures in the enclosure. You will need to get another heat source such as a heat lamp or ceramic heat emitter to heat the air throughout the entire enclosure to an acceptable temp. In order to properly regulate the ambient temps you will need another thermostat to control the lamp or CHE. The Herpstat 2 by spider robotics would be a perfect fit. You could purchase a second hydrofarm as well.

I would also recommend securing the thermostat probe for the UTH on the outside of the tank between the heat source and the glass. this will prevent spikes in temp that could injure your snake if the probe is accidentally moved.

Being you are going cheap on your tstat I will assume you really don't want two. A rheostat(dimmer) will work well with either a heat lamp or che and IMO is more dependable than a Hydrofarm. I would only use a dimmer if your homes temperature stays fairly constant.
