Whats the right price for a hatchling?

What will an honest seller ask money wise for [an albino ball python] hatchling? And what will they be able to assure me of, how many sheds, how many meals, etc?
For instance a seller is offering me a baby, one meal only for $250, I'm guessing thats not a honest offer. Please help.

A hatchling of what morph? That could be very cheap or very expensive depending on genetics, gender, etc.

Personally, I wouldn't sell a baby that's only had one meal, but as long as he's saying that upfront I don't see a problem with honesty there...

A good breeder should be able to give you details on the animal itself, such as genetics, weight, overall health, diet, etc.

Is it for a morph or normal? Normally a breeder won't sell a baby unless it's had at least two meals and shed.

Regardless of morph it's not a good offer for someone with no experience raising a hatchling. If you're new to BP's, try to get an older one with a little more size on it that's eating well.

For an albino it is an honest offer.

What can you be assured of, well shed is a bit much IMO, people who breeds will not always keep shed records especially if they have 100's of babies.

What is usually standard is sex and health guarantee as well as the fact that the animal is an established feeder with a minimum of several successful consecutive meals, personally I don't let go of any of my animals unless they have at least 3 meals but more often then not it's really 5. I want to make sure that they eat well and that they have a bowel movement before I let them go.
