dry scale

My girl looks like she has one big dry scale on her head. Is that from a bad shed?

Is it a greenish blue under the light? Some people see that and think it's bad. If it's a bluish sheen on some of the scales on its head, it just means it's a healthy skin. Mine got the blue sheen all over her after she shed last week.

I only assumed that's what you meant. You didn't describe it much, and unless you have a pic of this dry scale, we probably can't help you much. If it looks blue and shiny, that's good. If it looks ghosted and flakey or dry, then it's probably a piece of shed left over. Dont worry about that. As long as it's not a piece of skin that totally circles the body, it's not much harm. If there is skin all around the body, that's not good. It could constrict the blood flow, and the part constricted will die. Some times the shed won't come off the tail piece, and if left like that the tail can die and fall off.
So if it is a piece of left over shed, you can either wait until it comes off on its own, wait until next shed, or bath her and let her slither through a towel to rub it off.

Be careful rubbing your snake's head too hard. They do not have very much up there to protect their brain and you can very easily damage your snake.

Ah .. more than likely it will go away with your first shed. Make sure you bump up the humidity when you see her eyes turn blue. One thing to remember is that your first shed isnt a reflection on your husbandry as it is a reflection on the husbandry before you aquired the snake.
