Hello everyone! This is my first time posting here. I'm a Ball Python lover who is looking to switch over to a rack system so I can acquire a few more snakes and start breeding some basic morphs like Mojaves and Pastels as a hobby, as I love these dudes and genetics and such are a huge interest of mine. I figure if I enjoy it and start to get more into it I'll expand.
I want to set this rack on a 75 gallon aquarium stand I have, and am only going to be buying adults, so I want to do something a bit non-traditional from what I've seen and have 41 quart tubs (approx 34" l by 16" w by 6" h) facing longways, not going in deep. For now I just want to start out with a 3 or 5 tub tall rack, nothing too fancy.
Does anyone know someone who has built a rack like this, or are there any pictures floating around? I planned on using 3/4" melamine and having a full back, which I think should prevent sagging like I said some people said would happen.
Also, I have a question about heat tape. If I'm going longways, how should I heat this? Should I run tape at one end and just have multiple connections or whatever you call it, or leave part of the back open or something to run it there? I'm completely new to this so I really need some help figuring this out.
