    Rough Wrinkly scales?

My newly acquired bp appears to have shed recently, he's very iridescent on his head, though his belly seems to turning yellow/pink...the breeder had little info...

At any rate, all down his spine, the scales are wrinkled, they feel rough when you let him slide thru you hands, if you look close you see each scale looks almost like a shriveled raisin!

In the worst spot, which is right in a curly gold donut on his back, it's bad enough that it looks like scarring!

I can't get a pic with my phone, I tryied the other day to no avail, he's just fed now so not gunna bug him

I've seen this in the past on snakes, in particular a snake that someone "helped" shed...I'm sure they peeled the snake early...and it resulted in similar damage to the snake...
I'm wondering if this sounds familiar to anyone, and if so, what might it be?

Im hoping it was a bad shed from before I got him, but with no previous records I have no idea!

He is certainly no show snake, it doesn't bother me much, but enough that if it's somethin I can prevent, I sure want to try!

    Thanks for the help

Could be that he was under some low humidity conditions. Try bumping the humidity a little and see if the just flatten out maybe.

I've been hoping its humidity related, and not some permanent deformity...

It stands to reason that if this were caused by low humidity or a bad shed, that it would be fairly common, but the fact that google searches haven't yeild much info and this thread hasn't either...
It makes me wonder if it's just something I'm going to have to deal with...

I'm trying to figure out how to load and post pics, but I got this one in the gallery, it shows what it talking about if you open it open it.

It looks like scarring to me, I'm hoping it'll fade with future sheds...

To me that looks like it would eventually heal. There are a couple threads on this forum with pics that the owners have very honerably posted pics throughout the healing process on some rescues. Although someone might know better what that is I could only take a wild guess. I mostly want to say that to recover from bad sheds or scarring in an adult will take a long time. I bought a male a while back with stuck shed all over and even on his head that still has not healed properly and he is in pretty high humidity at all times. I've had a lot of good luck with the petco shed aid products. I would just rub some onto him eventually if it turns out it is stuck shed instead of the more likely case of scarring. I just spray it on and rub it onto my one bad shedder snake who also happens to be snappy and a poor eater, basically he's my problem child. Good luck with the snake whatever it turns out caused that to happen to the poor fellow.

It's totally healed, no ones even noticed it but me, that pic looks worse than it does in person, I'm trying to upload more but keep getting errors...

I know only time will tell if it'll go away, I wasn't sure it was a scar at first but I'm fairly certain it is after looking at it more and more...
im guessing it was from repeatedly scrapings from a lid as he pushed out of it, but he my have been forcefully extracted from a hiding spot too...

    thanks for the insight

Could also be a rodent bite that has healed.

    Re: Rough Wrinkly scales?

Naw(get it) it runs more than 3/4 the length of his body, from the base of the neck, right down to the tail, but for whatever that circle is by far the worst looking, it really looks like a scar!
Most of the "damage" is in the form of rough wrinkly scales, only noticable as he slides thru your hands, also those scales have no sheen or iridescence to them...
