    Question to Breeders regarding market

My boyfriend is feeling nervous because of another big purchase for equipment. We're just getting into breeding, and he's worried about losing money. We've invested about $3000 for everything we have so far, and we're not missing much at this point. We have only one male, a Queenbee, to be bred to a Pastel, Pinstripe, Cinnamon, and Lesser. There are some chances for some pretty cool combos in there.. but our big question is, do hatchlings actually sell?

We're worried about having all these babies and not being able to find homes for them. Any experienced buyers out there have advice or can let us know if the market is good?

I'm not concerned about it as much as he is because I wanted a hobby and some snakes to love and take care of more than anything (omg I'm so excited, I had a dream last night that our pastel had 30 eggs hahaha), but I guess the thought of not being able to sell any of the babies is kind of intimidating to the both of us.

    Thanks!

Re: Question to Breeders regarding market

I cant say how the market is but yes hatchlings will sell to the right people. Will you sell all of them....probably not, but you might. Say you don't....you grow another female and get something more appealing to breed with.....More breeding more possibilities of different snakes to sell and or have more power house to breed with.

To many unknown factors to give an accurate answer.
Your location if you have local shows.
    will you ship?
    Where will you advertise?
    Your price points.
    What you produce.
    Clean, healthy and appealing animals.
Can you market yourself and your animals?
Can you build a positive and helpful reputation?
That's just a few of the questions you have to ask yourself.

Short answer: Yes, they sell if the price is right.
Longer answer: It's a lot of work to get them sold.

If your boyfriend is worried about money and this is your hobby, then as long as you are covering your portion of the household expenses (assuming you're living together), you should be paying all of the costs and collecting payments for the snakes. If you are not covering the household expenses then he has a legitimate concern, and if you're not living together and the snakes are all at your place and you are caring for them, then it's really none of his business as long as you're supporting yourself.
