Super Mojaves
Earlier today I picked up a small collection of ball pythons that were the victims of a divorce. No one wanted them so they wanted the whole group to go to a new home. Long story short, I had space in my quarantine room so I ended up with them. In the group were two super mojave girls. Sadly, one of them looks like she had negative dining experience and has a few small bites and one pretty big one. She's going to need some TLC, but who doesn't need a project every once in a while?
Now for the question. These are my only super mojave BELs and I was wondering is it normal that the other one is so yellow? She's not going into shed but I didn't know that there was much variation with super mojaves (I just thought of them as white with a grey head). Mom was a pretty dark mojave, would that make the offspring yellowish?

I just have this pic of the two right now. Wasn't going to stress them out too much before they settled in.

Re: Super Mojaves
Super Mojaves are very variable in color and some have patterns.
Here is some pics of my male that just hatched. You'll notice he has a stripe in the middle and patterns on his tail, so yes they can be very variable.

Huh. That's really interesting. I knew you could see pattern sometimes, but for some reason I never thought of different colors.

Just in case here is a thread talking about how to take care of those wounds. In a freak situation that hopefully would never happen it could become infected so as a precaution I would start to treat it. http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...4552-Neosporin

Re: Super Mojaves
Thanks, these are far from my first rodent bites. I used to be a foster for a reptile rescue so she's being well cared for

Re: Super Mojaves
Just remember, some Mojaves have a lot of yellow to them, like this girl from my 2013 clutch.

Oh, I know (one of mine, unrelated to the BELs).

It was just since super mojave is a BEL, I was surprised that so much yellow was still present.

That's awesome that you got to do that, good for you! I have written a place locally here that supposedly does that and they have never written me back but I see their ads popping up on CL all the time. I am starting to think it's some one trying to get free reptiles. If I had a large back yard or a warehouse it would be helpful.

Re: Super Mojaves
It's very rewarding, but it can also be really hard when you end up with an animal you can't save. One red tail boa come in with a terrible URI that didn't respond to any medications. Vet finally discovered she had irreversible lung damage and she had to be put down. It's also hard not to get attached to your fosters. I actually still have a carpet python male that I became too attached to and couldn't let go. When he came in someone had burned him with a lighter , but he was such a good boy during treatment that I fell in love with him.
