Brace on a 75 gallon tank?

I just picked up a 75 gallon tank that I'm going to divide into two tanks. I also want to use one large reptitherm UTH to create hot spots on both sides of the divider. Only problem I've run into is the tank has a plastic center brace. I may be able to slide the UTH under the brace but it's pretty tight. Any other ideas? Go over it? Remove it?

I think I would try to go under it before over it. I think if it came to that I would just go with two smaller ones and just place one on each side of the divider.

Thanks, I had the same idea and went with two smaller UTH's, one on each side of the brace. I just hope having one temp probe between the two will be ok. I picked up a Vivarium VE 100 but it only has one probe. I plugged a small power strip into the VE100 and both UTH's into it so in theory it should keep both sides about the same. I've been monitoring the temps and it seems to be working. One quick question though, I'm using aspen snake bedding and was curious how thick of a layer do you put over the hot spot? I've also read that you should put a thin carpet under the the aspen bedding to prevent the snake from pushing aside the bedding and laying directly on the glass. What is recommended to do here?

1/4 of substrate. I would not add a carpet.

Just make sure the actual tank bottom is within range so if the snake makes contact with it no issues will pop up. If you get the tank floor to 90 and then add a1/4 of substrate the hotspot should still be at a good temp and not present any danger to the snakes.

You do have the tstat probe outside the tank? I sandwich it between the uth and the cage bottom.

Yup sandwiched right between the UTH and the tank bottom. Why is the tstat so thick though it really limits the contact patch with the tank bottom? Do they make a flat tstat?

I use Herpstat and I think they are pretty thin. This is one mounted to a rhp to give you an idea.
