Hello snake addicts

I've been on a long long break from reptiles. I've been wanting to get back in for years, and finally I'll be able to once I gather enough funds for it. Back in the day I was working with ball pythons, when the craze was really booming. Since the my interest has shifted alot. I want to get in to bigger snakes, but not too big. A mainland retic is out of the question due to size. However dwarfs and super dwarfs have really caught my eye!

The problem with the different dwarfs are that with every question I ask about them I get a different answer. My first concern is size. I want something that tops out at around 3 meter (10'). I know, a Boa C would be ideal, unfortunatley I'm not interested in boas. I'm a python kind of guy. Some people say that a 50% dwarf will maintain the size I want if fed accordingly, meaning once every two weeks (once a week the first year). Some say that I will always be in the risk of the dwarf reaching 15ft. I don't really want to invest 3-4 years and then be surprised by the size and quite possibly be in the position where I have to get rid of it.

Some say 50% SD is the way to go. Where males would top out at around 6' and females at 8'. But most of the SD's I've seen pictures and videos of look very slender, wich is nice don't get me wrong, but I really like the more heavy body look of the dwarfs.

I've been in contact with a few different breeders of both dwarfs and SD's and some say this, some say that. I now turn to the knowledge of this community, what would your advice be for a guy with my preferences? I should also mention that down the line I would like to try my hand at breeding retics. I bred BP's and found that part extremely fun and rewarding. With that in mind I guess I want to get either dwarfs of SD's and not mix the two.

Any advice or feedback is welcome! But please, no posts about that I should get a Boa or whatever other species.

Best regards
