Aim for BEL!

Alright so I have a question or two.
what would you do to have a greater chance in getting bel in a clutch?
Would you breed a for example mojave x mojave?
Or would you breed a two gene male
For example pastel butter x mojave?
Would the two gene ruin your chances in possibility of getting more bel in a clutch? Does it matter? There are lots of possibilities outcome when you breed two genes. Seems like I answered my own question but I just wanted to make sure.

In single gene BEL complex bred to another single gene BEL complex, you have a 25% shot at a BEL.

In your second example (BEL gene + another gene x single gene BEL gene), you still have a 25% shot at a BEL. It's just that 1/2 of those BELs have a chance at carrying the other gene as well.

So a pastel butter x mojave you would still get a 25% chance of Bel?
I would thought the chances would be less because of the other gene interfering to make pastave, pastel butter, butter, pastel, mojave, and normal.

Math through the Punnett squares (one is on worldofballpythons.com) says, using your example, that you could get....drum roll please LOL.....normal, spider, pastel, bumble bee, butter, butter bee, butter pastel, and bumble bee butter......all 1/8 or 12.5%.

Yep - still a 25% shot at a visual BEL in your Butter Pastel x Mojave pairing. More genes don't decrease your chances at hitting anything - it only increases your chances at hitting more genes. I'd venture to say that most BELs created are by happy accident in multi-gene pairings.

12.5% Normal
12.5% Mojave
12.5% Pastel
12.5% Pastave
12.5% Butter
12.5% Butter Mojave (visual BEL)
12.5% Butter Pastel
12.5% Butter Mojave Pastel (visual BEL)

You are correct...but for the sake of it all take your example and plug the spider in for the "Mojave" which are both single gene animals(even with the understanding that the spider is classed a dom while the Mojave is classed co-dom) and well you get the picture the math is the important thing here! I may make a mistake but the math never lies.

Your math isn't lying - you're just misinterpreting the results.

The OP is looking to produce visual BELs. In this example, both a Butter Mojave and a Butter Mojave Pastel are visual BELs. You have a 12.5% chance at producing either, giving you a 25% overall chance at visual BELs. Half of that 25% chance just has a shot at another gene in the mix.

I looked up wob and it had a pastel super mojave ( pastel, mojave x mojave) I don't like the super mojave because of the gray head.
can't find pics of the pastel super mojave in (pastel, butter, mojave)

So technically with butter pastel x mojave is a 12.5% to get pure BEL
Gotta do some research and see what a pastel butter mojave looks like!
