Do you remember your first ball/snake

Question; how many of you had a "connection"? Was there a moment of knowing "the one"? Or was it less glamorous ? How did u get your first ball or snake?
I remember looking at a pretty pastel, and a much smaller normal from a different place, but after holding my girl and having her balled up in my hands i knew she was mine. She hid her head for a bit and then slowly poked her little nose out under her body. Like a little kid under a blanket! It was so cute! She relaxed much quicker than i had thought and made herself comfy in my warm hands.

Re: Do you remember your first ball/snake

Honesty? I walked into the pet store (local place, does reptile rescue, etx.) and pretty much told them I needed a ball python and to set us up with supplies. They handed me a snake and that was the end of it. I CHOSE the other three, either in person or online.

Guess which one's my favorite? Yah, the random bp. Though I have to admit the corn came home with me because I asked o see her, dude warned she might nip and she came out easy as pie ... Then knocked my glasses off my face and crawled down my shirt.

I absolutely remember. I can't speak for others but my first ball python changed my life...

My first was really my ex wife's snake. He was a 300gram orange ghost we bought. I was pissed off because I didn't see the point on spending 500 bucks on a snake and 300 on an emclosure. I remember thinking he was cool but my gf couldn't deal with the rats and I was forced to feed him, which took some getting over the heart break of throwing a cute little rat pup in his tank.

It took me about 2 weeks and I was absolutely hooked. A year later I had a wall of snake racks and a couple dozen rat colonies.

    Changed my life....

I went into a locally owned pet store and told the owner I wanted a pastel ball python and a week later he had three in the store. I was never allowed reptiles growing up but have always wanted a snake. I picked the prettiest one with the most yellow and she happened to have the best temperment of the three. She's never even struck at me.

Our first BP was a male normal that a friend bought from a pet store. While he was an adult at the time, he was still living at home with his parents (he was just out of the military) and they said no way to having a snake under their roof. So, he gave us "Colt" the Python. We already had king snakes at the time.

We found out later that we had to change the name from "Colt" to "Collette".

First snake was a Cali King that my wife just had to have.
At that time I was terrified of snakes.
After a couple weeks and forcing myself to try to hold it while no one was home I took the jump to a normal ball.
I think 6 months later we hade like 20 snakes and now close to 6 years later the count is over 40 and there arw 5 more eggs in the hot box.
