    Sunburn?

Hi Everyone, I have noticed many of you posting photos of your pythons outside, enjoying the sun and grass. My question is: can pythons get sunburn? I get burned easily and never leave the house without SPF 50, but do I need to use any sun protection for my pythons? Are they susceptible to skin cancers? I realized pythons hide most of the day and don't even really see the sun often in a wild situation. Are we putting our pythons at risk when we take them out of their cozy dark homes and into the sun for a photo op?

I could see how a "scaleless" reptile would get a sunburn, because they no longer have their protective armor. (I dont know if albinos are at any risk for a burn or more sensitive to the sun)

Please don't put sunscreen on your snake.

I have to chalk this up in the same catagory as worrying about snakes swallowing a little substrate. I think we all at times can be too over protective of our animals. They are snakes, snakes live outside. Taking them outside isn't going to do any harm.

Thanks, just curious. I come from a family of dermatologists so I think about skin problems a lot.

I will not be putting any sunscreen on my snake.

I suggest a straw hat, and or sunglasses.

    you got designer shades,
just to hide your face and
    you slither around like
    you're cooler than me.
    and you never say hey,
    or remember my name.
    its probably cuz,
you think you're cooler than me....

    or... your a snake.

I knit snake clothes for mine when I bring them out in the summer. Good linen snake shirts and snake pants for the summer and wool ones for the winter.
