Is it just me or do you get excited every time you have a successful feeding day?

There is no better feeling than the nights I go to bed knowing that every single one of my snakes has a full belly. Doesn't happen often, since most of the time I don't even offer food to all of my snakes on the same day, but somehow "all the snakes that were offered food today have a full belly" just doesn't have the same satisfying feeling.

    Re: Does Everyone get excited??

    Yep!!
It's really a big part of the snake keeping experience. I have 3 different species, a royal, a boa constrictor and carpet python. The royal is typical and rarely moves about. I've had 6 month hunger strikes followed by another 4 months with the royal. Unfortunately I tried a live feed to "kick start" her and now that's all she takes, but on a positive note I'm almost always guaranteed a feeding and luckily up to now it's been flawless.

People who don't find the eating experience of snakes fascinating are missing a big part of the picture. These animals are designed by nature to be unseen, solitary and stealth. They are not social, and some can sit motionless for weeks waiting for food.

Being able to witness feeding whether it be live, F/T'd or fresh kill is something very interesting and special. While I personally don't enjoy seeing anything suffer, I certainly DO get excited/fascinated and whatever else to see the pet in my care eat successfully.

So if you feel excited,,,, I share that same feeling!

I get excited! I also get relieved and a very... I don't know, feeling of validation and satisfaction. As if them eating means I'm *doing it right*. I'm the same way about good sheds.

I always get excited on feeding day. I enjoy feeding them and watching them. For anyone who grew up obsessed with snakes, and documentaries; It might sound stupid but its like a discovery channel documentary happening in your living room (or wherever your feeding your snake).

Then after feeding is over. I get a little sad, because it means no holding for a few days (i prefer to give 48 hours before handling again). And I'm like 'awww"
