Black Lace Quake sudden color change.

I was doing my evening tub checks and found our male Black Lace Quake looking like this. He is drastically lighter in coloration. He's not in a shed cycle. I see similar random color changes with GHIs and I figured I'd share. I can't wait to make more of these!

Re: Black Lace Quake sudden color change.

A lot of sudden colour changes get put down to "hormonal changes" I wish I knew what they were and why they happen.

We are used to seeing it in females "glowing" as part of the breeding cycle but there is obviously so much we need to learn.

They are fascinating creatures to say the least. He was in a female's tub when this happened, so maybe he's feeling frisky and showing off.

He's beautiful, and I just love the BPs that have especially sweet faces like his!

Huh, very strange! He's very pretty. I don't have any good advice. The last time one of my males went through a color change like that he was glowing because he was actually a pregnant female...

That was my first thought. Actually, when I read the thread title, I thought of that thing that happens when they turn totally grey, but this doesn't look like that based on the pics.

He's a proven breeder male. He's already darkened back up to his normal coloration.

I've seen it many times over the years w/our ghi's we've owned, but this was a first for this one. It caught me by surprise, but it was very cool to see.
