Considering adding a carpet python to my collection. Need some help setting up the en

I am going to my first reptile expo in July, and if I see a good opportunity I might be leaving with a hatchling carpet python. I snagged a 10 gallon tank at a yardsale and made a quick decision to set it up with a live plant and some cool natural looking decorations.

That's a top view of what I have so far. Still need to get a water dish.
The problem I'm running into is heating. I use a uth with my ball, but with the false bottom and the thick layer of substrate I don't think a uth is going to work with this tank. I would have to go with an RHP but I don't have any experience with them so I'm not sure if there is one small enough to still provide a good thermal gradient in the enclosure. Any suggestions?

Uth are best but with a carpet you can use a infrared heat light if you need to. Thing is a 10g won't last a carpet just so you know. Personally I wouldn't even start a hatchling out that small. They are a more active snake. It's ok to use just know it won't be long before you will need to upgrade. Also it can be hard to get a temperature gradient in just a 10g tank if you do use a heat lamp.

How much substrate does it have? If it is deep because I the plant you could also have the Uth on the other side of the tank and put less substrate there.

Tank does look real nice.
