    Is this right?

Always thought my female was a little on the small side. At 8 months was only 145g, a month on she is now 251. That's over 100g in a month. Is this too much gain or just a late starter?
feeding rats now instead of mice.

Is this weight pre or post dump...if you know what I mean...

either way, 100 grams a month sounds about right. I like to get them to about 1000 grams in their first year...

Now you mention it, she had a "dump" this morning. But was last fed. 3 days ago. Feed every 5 days. 1000g in a year? So is mine under weight then? Sorry cant post pics as on phone and have no laptop. She looks good. Nice and fat, no spine showing. After reading this forum has spot on husbandry. Feeds every time (never missed )

254 grams at 9 months is light to me. I wouldn't automatically say that's unhealthy though. Some just grow slower than others. I feed babies mice or rat pups every 3-5 days until around 6 months, then they start on weaned rats every 5-7 days. Then it's on to small rats. They are usually around 1000 grams by 1 year old. After that it's one small rat per week...

I agree with Sho, they all grow at their own rate. I have a male Albino that hatched on 6-28-13 I had an awful time getting him to eat, and as of now weighs exactly 300 grams.

Whereas I have a female Pastel Het. Hypo that hatched on 7-7-13 that weighs 825 grams.

As long as she is eating and putting on weight I really wouldn't worry too much!
    I've got quite a few...

Do you think she could handle weaned rats at 254g?

Get the Tapatalk app for your phone and you'll be able to post photos from your phone.

Some of them just grow a little slower than others. Just keep up the weekly feedings and make sure you weigh them after they poop and shed. That's when you get their "true" weight.
