I just picked up my first ball python yesterday. (I'm so excited!) She is six months old and according to the person I bought her from, has been eating well. I wanted to house her in an aquarium for the sake of visibility and aesthetics. I put black paper along three sides of the tank and put some foil over 2/3 of the top to retain humidity. There is an under tank heater to the left and a heat light that I have on a very dim setting (I turned it up for the pics) because it seemed a bit cold -it's up to around 82 degrees ambient now on the warm end. The substrate is aspen bedding.
I made some temporary hides out of small cardboard boxes and will replace them as they get soiled until I find something more permanent. I put extras in because it seemed like a big tank for such a small snake.
Here are the pics:
Questions:
Does the setup generally seem all right?
Do I need to adjust temps?
My snake seems to be only hanging out in the back corner by the plant on the cool end- not in a hide. You can kind of see her in the second picture. Should I be concerned about this/ adjust anything?
Thanks for your help!
