    Hi Everyone~

First time owner, with basic experience from friends previous pets. I currently have two pastel (66% possible het for clown) baby ball pythons, one male one female. I have no intentions to breed it just ended up like this. I've had them for a week today, my female feeds readily on rat pups, but my male has yet to eat even though it's been about 2.5 weeks since his last feeding. He has shown intent to go for fingers and gave me a short warning that he intended to eat my wrist the first day I got him, so I know he's hungry but being stubborn. Theyre both roughly about 90 grams right now.

I'm looking to get more snakes sometime in the near future. Leopard gecko's as well. I also breed my own rats and mice (both pets and feeders) and have a zoo of other animals which consist of two dogs, two cats, about two dozen axolotls and fish. I've found myself weaning away from the aquarium hobby and finding more interest in reptiles. Anyway I'm not but not super new to this, so please be kind! Nice to meet everyone!

You say this now, but just wait. The more time you spend on this site the less likely you will be able to resist. This forum is full of enablers that feed the addiction. Either get out now while you can, or accept that your doomed to a life of obsessing about your next 3 gene animal.

Thank you and I suppose you're right about this. I think I considered myself safe because my current obsession is axolotls, however with my attention weaning away from aquatic stuff, it wouldn't surprise me if ball pythons took over lol.

Welcome to the forum! And it's so true! I never thought I'd get obsessed with ball pythons/getting into breeding when I bought Levi long long ago. The bug will bite you and when it does it bites hard!

Welcome! I agree with what everyone else is saying. We are all enablers and sooner or later you will want to breed them!

That and the chance to get Killer Clowns sounds pretty tempting...

    Re: Hi Everyone~

I will admit I'm an enabler to. I also have a bad tendency to give into whims which is why I have my two babies now, but I do love them. I also have to admit I'm not a fan of big snakes, a hurdle I hope to overcome. I thought carefully about it and started off with babies so I could get attached to them as they grow big. My boy is giving me grief though with his refusal to eat and even though it hasn't been that long I'm still concerned for him and thats why I'm waiting to get more. Though I might be picking up a pastel ghost ball python this weekend. Speaking of which, what's the safest most stress free way to transport a smaller sized bp? It's gonna be a bit of a road trip and I want her safe and happy.

Also Monty, I haven't studied up on morphs too much, but killer clown is one right? Or maybe I have it mixed with another type. I was planning to look into that soon.

Yes it is. If you breed the two you have together at some point. You have a chance (very small chance especially with them being possible hets.) to produce a Killer Clown which is basically a Super Pastel Clown.

    Re: Hi Everyone~

Right on. I feel the chances are unlikely id be so lucky to actually get legit hets for anything, but at least my babies are still pretty haha.

Also you guys were right, I'm in deep. I'm going to be buying some Mojaves from my local breeder when he gets them in. Probably just a female to start. He explained the genetics to me a bit and said that breeding two Mojaves together can produce the blue eyes leucistics and I adore those ones so it seems in the end I'll probably breed. Definitely not any time soon though.
